Christian Maria, “La Pala”

Christian Maria is novelist from Nice, who situates his books in de County of Nice of the 16th century. His first novel, La Pala (Italian for altar piece), is at the same time an effective detective story with the (fictitious) knight Charles de Montreil in the role of detective, an art lesson about the Nice painter Ludovico Bréa, and a description of Nice in the year 1521. Only available in French, but recommended.
